Guy Carpenter has named Nick Frankland chief executive officer to the newly created position of European operations.

The reinsurance brokerage firm, a subsidiary of New York-based services firm Marsh & McLennan, said Mr. Frankland was formerly CEO of UK operations. He will be responsible for the firm’s broking operations across both Continental Europe and the United Kingdom.

Andrew Marcell will continue in his role as CEO of continental European operations, with new responsibilities as global business development leader. He will report to Mr. Frankland.

Mark Hewett was named chairman of UK operations.

Guy Carpenter also announced that effective May 1, James Nash will assume the role of CEO of Asia Pacific operations from Martin Burrough. Mr. Burrough will retire from Guy Carpenter on Dec. 1, 2008 following 16 years of service.

Mr. Nash will remain based in Guy Carpenter’s Tokyo office. Mr. Burrough will continue to play a key role in the region as chairman of Asia Pacific operations, based in Hong Kong, Guy Carpenter said.
