W. R. Berkley Corporation said it has named William J. Johnston president of one of its subsidiaries, Clermont Specialty Managers, Ltd.

He succeeds Alfred Schonberger, who will now serve as Clermont's chairman and chief executive officer.

The Greenwich, Conn.-based insurer also said that David A. Gianfrancesco, senior vice president of claims for Clermont, was promoted to executive vice president.
