The Allstate Corp. announced today that Michele Coleman Mayes has been named the firm's general counsel and senior vice president, succeeding Michael J. "Mick" McCabe, who is retiring.
The Northbrook, Ill.-based insurer said Ms. Mayes, formerly senior vice president and general counsel for Pitney Bowes, will head Allstate's Law and Regulation department, "which plays an integral role in guiding Allstate's business strategy."
In that post Ms. Mayes will direct all of the corporation's legal and public policy activities and serve as a member of the senior management team reporting to Thomas J. Wilson, Allstate's president and chief executive officer.
