Hurricane Humberto made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane earlyThursday morning on the coast of Texas near Galveston.

According to a release by Guy Carpenter, Humberto sustainedwinds of around 85 mph as well as downed trees, ripped roofs frombuildings, and left streets blocked with litter and tree branches,in addition to claiming one life.

Risk Management Solutions (RMS) reports that they do not expectinsured losses from wind damages to residential, commercial,industrial properties, and business interruption resulting frompower outages to exceed $500 million. According to RMS, Humbertomade landfall in a relatively sparsely populated area of southeastTexas and damage is mainly confined to Jefferson, Orange, andGalveston counties in southeast Texas, with the most severe damageseen in coastal communities, such as High Island.
