A typhoon has been tracked in the southeast region of Japan and is expected to move north-northwest, picking up speed and intensity in the next three days, according to London-based Carvill Insurance Intermediary.
The company said Typhoon Usagi will reach the equivalent of a Category 4 storm over the next few days. Current model forecasts claim landfall will be made on the southwestern coast of Japan on Thursday.
Usagi represents a threat to Japan but Carvill says it is unable yet to pin down a more precise landfall location.
