The Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia (CIC-DC) said it is offering a seminar featuring one of the alternative risk transfer industry's top legal experts, who will share insights on the latest tax rulings and legal developments impacting protected cell captives (PCC).

The seminar is scheduled for May 22 at the University Club in Washington, D.C.

The speaker is Tom Jones, partner, McDermott Will & Emery, LLP, whose presentation will include a discussion on the criteria for achieving insurance tax treatment; a summary of 2005 taxpayer comments to the Internal Revenue Service regarding cells; structuring programs to maximize the efficacy of PCC cell "walls" in the event of an insolvency; and a tax and legal comparison of PCCs versus incorporated cell captives (ICCs).
