It was another record-setting year for Brown & Brown Inc. The company reported earnings for 2006 rose to $172.35 million, or $1.22 per share, an increase of 14.5 percent over the $150.55 million, or $1.08 per share, earned in 2005.

Total revenue for the year rose to $878 million, up 11.7 percent compared with $785.8 million in 2005.

For the fourth quarter, net income increased 5.3 percent to $37.62 million, or 27 cents per share, compared with 2005 fourth-quarter net income of $35.72 million, or 25 cents per share.
