Progressive Insurance has expanded its program giving a discount to drivers who equip their cars with a sensor that tracks their usage to two additional states.

The company said the Progressive Direct Group of Insurance Companies, which sells auto insurance to consumers by telephone and over the Internet, began offering its “TripSense” product last month in Michigan and Oregon.

Progressive, based in Mayfield Village, Ohio, began offering TripSense two years ago in Minnesota, and said there are now 6,000 drivers in that state taking part in the program, who save an average of 11 percent every six months on their premiums.
