SunGard has acquired Carnot, AG. of Frankfurt, Germany, aprovider of business process management (BPM) software that helpsenterprises model, deploy, execute, monitor, and optimize theirbusiness processes. The terms of the transaction were notdisclosed, but it is not expected to have a material impact onSunGard's financial results.

Carnot helps insurers and other business users to define theirbusiness processes in a business model containing information onthe model's components and organizational structure. These modelscan be debugged and deployed to a runtime environment directly fromthe Carnot modeling desktop. Carnot is a J2EE-based solution. Itwill be offered as a stand-alone product, as part of SunGard's EXPsolution suite, and within other SunGard systems.
