Claims News Service, July 7, 10:35 a.m. EDT — Typhoon Ewiniar is located south of Okinawa in Japan and is tracking north-northwest, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) and reported by Guy Carpenter. The storm is currently a Category 3 typhoon and is moving at seven miles per hour with sustained winds of around 115 miles per hour.

JTWC expects Ewiniar to make landfall in mainland South Korea as a Category 2 storm in the early hours of Monday morning, according to the report. South Korea's weather agency said powerful winds and heavy rain will hit the southern island of Cheju on Saturday as the typhoon approaches. The state-run National Emergency Management Agency also warned that low-lying areas along the west coast may be submerged if the storm makes landfall in the Korean Peninsula. Elsewhere, Japan's Meteorological Agency said the typhoon is expected to bring heavy rain and flooding to parts of Okinawa.
