Claims News Service, June 21, 9:31 a.m. EDT — The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research has developed a four-hour online course called “Insuring Commercial Flood Exposures,” which aims to meet what the company deems is a growing need for flood insurance education by insurance industry professionals.

The course is approved for four hours of state continuing-education credits in 49 states, with approval in North Carolina pending.

The emphasis of the course is on commercial flood exposures with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). It provides an overview of the NFIP, building and contents eligibility, terms and tools, causes of loss, property not covered, limits and deductibles, loss settlement and valuation, and other coverages such as debris removal and pollution damage. An examination is given at the end of the course, and the student must have a passing grade in order to receive CE credit. The student is given three attempts to pass the exam.
