Preparing for the monster storm experts say will hit the Northeast some day in the future will be the topic for a conference of insurers, associations, emergency managers, regulators, disaster recovery organizations, the media and disaster-preparedness workers next month.

The Northeast Hurricane Project (NHP) said it will hold its first major conference 49 days into the hurricane season–on July 19 at the Hilton New York, in New York City.

Their one-day event is being coordinated by the Insurance Information Institute to discuss what needs to be done to prepare the Northeast for an inevitable event, NHP said.
