ACORD has launched streaming video-on-demand on its Web sitethat is designed to inform the insurance industry on the role ofACORD data standards. "Online video allows us to communicatedifficult concepts and ideas in a more easily understood medium. Itis the perfect vehicle to use to fulfill our mission of developing,advocating and educating the industry," says Rick Gilman, ACORD'svice president of communications.

Users are able to select content that is relevant to them, whenand where they want it, according to Gilman. A featured video clipplays on ACORD's main page (www.acord.org), which provides links tofurther channels of content. Visitors will also find video on pagesthroughout the ACORD Web site, which is undergoing a redesign tobest present video and other multimedia.

On one channel, Gregory A. Maciag, CEO and president of ACORD,interviews insurance CIOs and CEOs on the role of standards and thedirection of technology in their organizations and in the industry.Other channels include reports on what's happening with ACORDstandards worldwide, technical advice to standards implementers,reports on standards and technology in the UK market, and trainingon ACORD standards implementation for all lines of business.Video-on-demand capabilities include podcasting and live Webcastingfrom ACORD and other events.
