WASHINGTON–David F. “Bud” Wilson was honored today with theWoodworth Memorial Award during the Independent Insurance Agents& Brokers of America's National Legislative Conference andConvention in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Wilson, a past-president of the association, is chiefexecutive officer of Wilson Insurance Agency in Chula Vista,Calif.

“For decades, he has served his fellow agents and brokers, andhe is the portrait of what [an IIABA] volunteer should be,” saidWilliam Stiglitz, IIABA president, in a statement. “We are verylucky to have such a leader as Bud Wilson in our midst.”

Mr. Wilson, visibly touched by the tribute, urged agentsgathered for the association's legislative conference breakfast tocontinue to be involved in their government affairs and otherassociation committees to work on issues of concern to agents withthe aim of ultimately benefiting consumers throughout thecountry.

In addition to being a past IIABA president, Mr. Wilson hasserved as chairman of the association's government affairscommittee. At the state level, he served as president of theIndependent Brokers and Agents of the West and as itsrepresentative on the National Board of State Directors. He wasalso president of the Independent Insurance Agents of SanDiego.

In receiving the award, Mr. Wilson was joined by his wife,Sandra, and his three sons, Brad, Matthew and Gregory.

The Woodworth Award was established in 1925 in memory of C.H.Woodworth of Buffalo, N.Y., the second president of theassociation. It is awarded annually to the IIABA member who bestdemonstrates outstanding service benefiting independent insuranceagents and the entire insurance industry.
