The Qatar Financial Centre Authority said Fetooh Al Zayani has been appointed as managing director business development for insurance and reinsurance.
The Authority said Ms. Al Zayani will generate and manage partnerships between the QFC and the national, regional and international insurance industry, and will contribute to the development of insurance and reinsurance as a key business.
Ms. Al Zayani was responsible for development of the strategy for insurance and reinsurance at the Dubai International Financial Centre
The QFC noted that in recent weeks, Credit Suisse Financial Services was authorized to carry on “regulated activities” in the country, and a number of top-level institutions have announced their intention to seek a license.
Others seeking licensing include Morgan Stanley, AXA Investment Managers, the asset management subsidiary of AXA SA (Europe’s second-biggest insurer) Standard Chartered bank and ALICO, according to QFC. HSBC has previously also announced their intention to seek authorization to do business in Qatar.
