Claims News Service, March 7, 10:52 a.m. EST — The National Association of Insurance Commissioners recently released its 2005 annual report, “State-Based Insurance Regulation: An American Classic,” focusing on last year's record hurricane season.

“2005 will be forever recorded as a time when the state-based system of regulation was put to the test and overwhelmingly succeeded in serving the best interests of consumers,” said Catherine J. Weatherford, Executive Vice President and CEO.

The annual report also includes achievements and progress in financial solvency, market regulation, modernization and technology, and government affairs.
