Large contractors cleaning up New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina are getting coverage for pollution risks, but as reconstruction progresses, difficulties may yet arise, warned one brokerage expert.

Contractors are performing industrial cleanup and street cleaning--and pre-Katrina, pollution policies were in place, available and affordable, reported Michael Tubbs, vice president and construction practice leader for Willis.

Currently, there seems to be no upward pressure on prices or deductibles, he said, although carriers appear to be starting to reevaluate the rate environment, while having engineers assess current risks under existing policies.
