Pennsylvania has stopped participating in the fingerprintrepository project sponsored by the National Association ofInsurance Commissioners, Kansas City, Mo., that has drawn heavyopposition from insurance agents.

Diane Koken, Pennsylvania's insurance commissioner, disclosedthe state's action on Friday in a letter to the Insurance Agentsand Brokers of Pennsylvania.

Her department will no longer submit digital fingerprints to theNAIC Digital Fingerprint Central Repository pilot project, shewrote, citing the "national and local debate surrounding theefficacy of this process."
