Willis Decentralizes Marketing

NU Online News Service, Sept. 16, 2:46 p.m. EDT?Insurance broker Willis Group Holdings said it is decentralizing its risk marketing department, placing it instead in its offices throughout the United States and the world.

The action, the London headquartered firm said in a statement, "will use the advantage of local, national and global marketing expertise coupled with the superior knowledge of our clients to deliver the best insurance program available from the worldwide insurance marketplace regardless of the geography of the client."

Decentralizing puts an "emphasis on service and a ?hands on' approach; this is an old-fashioned model," said Joe Plumeri, Willis chairman and chief executive officer. "There is no question that it is a more difficult model, but the right one if you are committed to providing the best for clients."

Mario Vitale, CEO of Willis North America, said, "Pushing the marketing function out to our offices, as close to the clients as possible, is a key differentiator for us. Just as our client advocates draw on the full resources of Willis to deliver the best solution possible, so too do our marketing colleagues as they will have the capability to place business in markets around the world, leveraging our global strength without regard for geography."
