Travel disruptions have been on the rise this year: conflict in the Middle East, air traffic controller shortages and tech outages in the United States, extreme weather everywhere.

More travelers are taking out higher-end travel insurance policies as a result, according to research from Reuters.

From January to April, there were 32% more requests for travel insurance quotes compared to the same period last year, according to InsureMyTrip, an online travel insurance broker.
