The Texas Panhandle experienced its worst wildfire on record during March 2024, according to CoreLogic, highlighting how wildfire season has become a year-round happening. CoreLogic reported that Texas' Smokehouse Creek fire destroyed more than 1 million acres burned and roughly 1,544 single-family residential properties with a combined reconstruction value of $356 million were located within the wildfire perimeter.
