The Texas Panhandle experienced its worst wildfire on record during March 2024, according to CoreLogic, highlighting how wildfire season has become a year-round happening.

CoreLogic reported that Texas' Smokehouse Creek fire destroyed more than 1 million acres burned and roughly 1,544 single-family residential properties with a combined reconstruction value of $356 million were located within the wildfire perimeter.

Although it was the most devastating fire in Texas history, the Smokehouse Creek fire does not rank among the country's most destructive.
