The average insurance agent in the United States earns base pay of $55,596 annually, according to Indeed. For some agents, though, the financial reward is much larger, with Zippia reporting the top 10% of insurance agents in the U.S. average an income of $88,000 a year.

Of course, not all regions of the country offer the same opportunity for those looking to get into insurance, and Zippia recently released their list of both the most and least lucrative states to be an insurance agent in 2023.
