The smart home insurance market has transformed in recent years, and it's clear that a one-size-fits-all approach no longer works. To better understand these changes, we spoke with Brett Jurgens, co-founder and CEO of Notion. Jurgens explains that customer acquisition and retention are large benefits of smart home programs. These programs empower insurance companies to provide key points of differentiation and retain more of their customers during critical points in time, such as during a claim or at the time of renewal.

Insurance companies can engage with customers in ways that weren't possible in the past. Notion, for example, has nine to 11 touchpoints with customers daily, which builds ongoing trust and loyalty. Jurgens further explains how focusing on that "first 15 minutes of ownership" is allowing insurance companies to deliver value right from the start.
