Despite advances in technology and efforts by law enforcement, car crashes continue to pose a problem in the United States. Whether by accident, human error or some other factor, car crashes are likely to remain an issue for the foreseeable future.

One of the most unfortunate outcomes of a car crash is the potential loss of life. According to the Insurance Information Institute, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that 36,560 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2018, down 2.4% from 37,473 in 2017.
