Nearly 90% (49.3 million) of Thanksgiving travelers this year will drive to their destinations, causing severe road delays with some trips taking as much as four times longer depending on the day and time of travel, says AAA.
To determine the most congested cities for road travel this Thanksgiving, Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT) analyzed data from almost 5.8 million drives in the U.S from November 19 to 26, 2018.
Based on the gathered data, including information on speeding, acceleration, hard braking, cornering, and smartphone distraction, CMT found Wednesday is the most congested day to travel, with the most drivers on the road. CMT also found that Thursday is the most dangerous day for road travel, as people are more likely to encounter distracted driving and speeding.
