SapiensInternational Corporation, the global provider of softwaresolutions for the insurance industry, has entered into a definitiveagreement to acquire Adaptik, a Pennsylvania-based firm that offersproperty and casualty (P&C) policy administration and billingcapabilities for commercial, personal, specialty and workers'compensation lines of business. Sapiens says the acquisition willenable it to provide North American insurance carriers with anenhanced platform.

The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based home telematicscompany Roost has entered into a partnership with ErieInsurance, which selected the Roost Smart Water Leak and FreezeDetector. The deal reflects Roost's mission to become a go-to smartsensor notification platform as well as the customer engagementsolution of choice for the P&C industry. Earlier thisyear, Roost unveiled its Smart Garage Door Sensor, whichjoined the company's suite of home telematics solutions thatinclude the Roost Smart Battery and the Roost Smart Water Leak andFreeze Detector.

To enhance its underwriting capabilities, ColumbiaInsurance Group will deploy the InsureRight® Platform fromValenAnalytics®, an Insurity company and a provider of proprietarydata, analytics and predictive modeling for P & C insurers.Columbia will utilize the Predict application of Valen'splatform to increase visibility and efficiency in risk selectionand pricing for its workers' compensation underwriting teams.
