Travelers has partnered with the Women's Business DevelopmentCenter (WBDC), a program that fosters entrepreneurship, and withnonprofit microfinance institution Accion to teach female andminority business owners about risk management.
|The Small Business Risk Education (SBRE) program was launched onThursday in Chicago, where SBRE estimates 47 percent of all jobsare created by small companies.
|SBRE will help its members develop risk management plans byincreasing awareness of the most common safety risks faced by smallbusinesses and offer training on business continuityplanning.
|Participants will receive one-on-one assistance from Travelersand WBDC experts and assistance applying for microloans throughAccion to support capital investments related to sustainability andgrowth.
|Travelers piloted SBRE in Los Angeles in 2012 along with theValley Economic Development Center, and plans to expand the programto additional markets next year.
