Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Glenn T.Shapiro to executive vice president, commercial insurance, andchief claims officer. Shapiro succeeds GeorgeA. Neale, who recently retired from the company.

Based in the company's Boston, Mass. home office, Shapirowill lead a commercial lines claims organization whose goals are todeliver industry leading claims outcomes that meet or exceedcustomers' needs, and further enhance the relationships betweenclaims personnel and agent and broker partners.

“Under [his] leadership, we'll continue to leverage ournational scale and strengthen our local claims service teams tobest serve our agents, brokers, and policyholders,” said J. PaulCondrin, executive vice president, Liberty Mutual Insurance, andpresident, commercial insurance.

Shapiro brings more than 23 years of industry experience to thisnew role. He has held various leadership positions inpersonal, commercial, and disability claims organizations. Prior tothis appointment, Shapiro was senior vice president andmanager of field operations for commercial insurance claims atLiberty Mutual Insurance. He has also served as senior vicepresident of claims at Safeco Insurance, a LibertyMutual company.
