The Chicago Tribune will pay $425,000 to 46 TribLocal reporters whoclaimed they did not receive adequate compensation for overtimehours worked between February 2009 and September 2012.

Carolyn Rusin, a former TribLocal reporter, sued the Tribuneunder the Fair Labor Standards Act and Illinois Minimum Wage Law.She will be paid $10,000 for bringing the case and $2,000 for herindividual claim. A court hearing in June will decide finalapproval.

Many of the reporters involved in the case are no longeremployed by TribLocal. The Chicago Tribune outsourced most ofTribLocal's coverage to Journatic in April 2012, cutting half ofits 40 editorial staff positions.
