Hylant promotes two in Environmental PracticeGroup: Hylant Group has promoted two insurance professionalsin its Environmental Practice Group. Don Bryant,vice president, has been promoted to practice leader of theEnvironmental Practice Group. Bruce Kranz, who ledthe expanding practice group for 11 years, was named senior vicepresident. They will both operate out of Hylant's Clevelandoffice.

Grange names president/CEO and CFO: GrangeInsurance announced that Thomas Welch has beenappointd president and CEO of the Columbus, Ohio-based insuranceprovider. Welch has been serving as interim president and CEO sinceJanuary. Welch joined Grange Insurance in 2001 as president of theGrange Life Insurance Company. He was appointed chief financialofficer in 2008. Succeeding Welch as chief financial officer isJ. Paul McCaffrey. Prior to his promotion,McCaffrey served as Grange's vice president, finance and chief riskofficer.

NFIB moves workers' comp into Ind., N.C., Va.,Mo.: The National Federation of Independent Business(NFIB) extended discountedworkers' compensation coverage benefits tgo its members inIndiana, North Carolina, Virginia and MIssouri through Employers. Employerscurrently offers NFIB members workers' compensation coverage in 10states. Depending on the state, qualifying NFIB members areeligible to receive either a 5 percent discount or a 5 percent flatdividend on workers' compensation insurance policies withEmployers.

5 Star gains general agency appointment withCanal: 5 Star Specialty Programs, a division of CrumpInsurance Services Inc., and part of Crump Group Inc., todayannounced it has secured a general agency appointment with Canal InsuranceCo. for several specific transportation segments. Under theagreement, 5 Star will now represent Canal to write designatedclasses of public auto risks, waste operations, as well astrucking. Coverage offered includes auto liability, physicaldamage, general liability and other statutory requirements such asuninsured/underinsured motorist. Canal is rated A (“Excellent”) byA.M. Best.

TheNew Hire Training Center offers a curriculum package that includes:personal lines, commercial lines, commercial and personal lines andmanagers. Vertafore launches new products: Vertafore showcasedmultiple products at the 2011 Network of Vertafore Users (NetVU)Conference. Vertafore unveiled a corporate-wide userexperience initiative, which includes the management system Sagitta8.0, with initial availability in June. Also featured is AMS3606.0, which will be available in late 2011. Users can connect withthe system in many ways, including via mobile devices. The companyalso showcased WorkSmart Engage, Vertafore Identity Management andMyVertafore.
