A report from the Commonwealth fund finds that children in the New England states and the Upper Midwest receive better healthcare than children in other states, particularly those who live in the South and Southwest. "The State Scorecard on Child Health System Performance, 2011″ ranks states on several factors, including healthcare affordability, prevention and treatment. The report is published 2 years after the federal government reauthorized and expanded the Children's Health Insurance Program.
The report finds that 3 percent of children were uninsured in Massachusetts, compared with 17 to 18 percent in Nevada, Florida and Texas.
