As the Sept. 30 National Flood Insurance Program expiration looms, thousands of additional homeowners may be forced to buy flood coverage after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) revoked accreditation for 300 levees across the country, according to an article in USA Today.
FEMA took the action as part of its effort to update flood hazard maps, USA Today said, noting that most of the levees affected are in California and Arizona.
