said Chief Operating Officer Christopher J. Maguire and Executive Vice President Sean S. Sweeney have been promoted to be co-presidents of the firm.

Jamie Maguire, chairman and chief executive of the Bala Cynwyd, Pa.-based firm, said in a statement that the two appointees have advanced the company’s growth.

“Together, serving more than five decades, they have been recognized for their devotion and remarkable accomplishments. I am confident their new role as co-presidents will be a smooth transition for everyone,” he said.

Mr. Maguire joined Philadelphia Insurance Companies in 1987 and has managed the operations and production within the Underwriting Department. In his most recent role as chief operating officer, his focus has been on building a franchise and creating alignment within company areas.

In his new position of co-president and COO, the company said he will be responsible for the operational oversight of all departments with a continued focus on building a leadership framework focused on strategic alignment.

. In his most recent role as executive vice president and chief marketing officer, his focus has been on developing new ways to grow the business organically, by acquisition and through product development.

In his new position of co-president and chief marketing officer, Mr. Sweeney will maintain oversight of the sales and marketing organization and Valley Forge Insurance Brokerage. He will also assist with training and development and lead the Tokio Marine Group’s initiative to promote resource sharing among its subsidiaries.

Philadelphia Insurance Companies is a member of the Tokio Marine Group. The firm designs, markets and underwrites commercial property and casualty and professional liability insurance products for select industries.
