Robert Schiff, founder of Cincinnati Insurance Co. and Cincinnati Financial Corp., died Jan. 7, at the age of 86.

Schiff began as an insurance agent after graduating from Ohio State University in 1946. He was a founder and director of Cincinnati Insurance Co. since it was established in 1950, and a director of Cincinnati Financial, an outgrowth of Cincinnati Insurance, from its incorporation in 1968, to his retirement from the board in 2004.

He also formed the Schiff, Kreidler-Schell insurance agency in 1984. He served as president until 1991, then as chairman until he retired from the agency in 2004.
