Effective July 1, Foremost introduced new Dwelling Fire policiesand endorsements specifically designed for the unique needs oflandlord, owner-occupied or vacant properties. All new businesswill be written on the new Dwelling Fire One or Dwelling Fire Threepolicies, while current customers will be moved into the newprogram at renewal.

With Foremost's broadened underwriting, the company now acceptsin Nevada and Oregon:

  • Vacation rental properties
  • Homes with open foundations
  • Customers with up to five losses
  • Homes up to (Nev.: 9 years) (Ore.: 16) old may qualify for anAge-of-Home discount, up to (Nev.: 20%) (Ore.: 25%).
  • The Superior Financial Responsibility discount has increased to(Nev.: 20%) (Ore.: 30%).
  • In Nevada, insurance scores for landlord risks are used and adiscount of up to 20% is available.
  • In Nevada and Oregon, owners with another Foremost, Farmers,Bristol West or Zurich policy may qualify for a discount.
  • In Nevada and Oregon, owners without prior claims may receive adiscount.
  • In Nevada, new discounts for professional landlords using aproperty management company, who belong to a landlord association,conduct tenant screening or have multiple properties insured withForemost are now available.

In California, some of the changes to the Dwelling Fire programinclude:

  • Personal Injury coverage is now available.
  • $1 million Liability limits are now available.
  • Repair Cost Endorsement, which provides a repair costsettlement on Coverage A partial losses, is now available.
  • Theft coverage is available up to $5,000 in increments of$1,000.
  • Owners with another Foremost, Farmers, Bristol West or Zurichpolicy may qualify for a discount.
