Charles Shifflett, a Virginia preacher who was charged with 50 felony counts and one misdemeanor of obtaining money by false pretenses and making materially false statements in connection with a workers' compensation award.

Last week, Shifflett, who pleaded guilty to who pleaded guilty to 20 felony charges of fraudulent worker's compensation claims, taking money under false pretense and tax evasion, had his sentencing hearing, where he was was sentenced to five years on each of the 20 felony charges, for a total of 100 years. However, the judge suspended all but four years of the sentence, meaning that Shifflett's total jail time will be four years.

Shifflett will also have to pay restitution to several insurance companies totaling $39,000. Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company will receive $5,000; Church Mutual Insurance Company will be repaid in the amount of $20,000; and $14,000 will paid to the commonwealth for tax evasion.
