New York Governor David Paterson has vetoed the no-fault intoxication exclusion cutback bill (S 8294-A Bonacic), the no-fault intoxication exclusion cutback bill that passed the New York Senate Legislature in June.

Paterson said that the bill was too expansive and needed to be rewritten. He also noted that the bill would require no-fault insurers to reimburse a health service provider for all health-related services until the $50,000 no-fault limit is exhausted, not when the patient is stabilized, which would result in higher insurance rates for the public.
