Michael Garceau has been appointed chief operating officer of Zurich's Specialties business unit in North America. Garceau will lead all operations of the business unit, including finance, strategic planning and business model development and implementation.

Garceau has 22 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry, most recently as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Chubb Specialty Insurance. Prior to that, he held senior finance positions with Executive Risk, UnitedHealthcare and Travelers Insurance.

Garceau is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and the CFO Peer Group organized by Deloitte & Touche. He has participated in the CFO Roundtable of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Society. He has an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his bachelor's degree from Central Connecticut State University
