Zurich North America Commercial's Surety, Credit and Political Risk group, created by the recent merger of Zurich's Surety and Emerging Markets groups, has appointed several executives to key roles.

o David Hewett has been named senior vice president for the Contract Surety group. This newly aligned group will have responsibility for all of contract surety accounts in the U.S and Canada. Hewett joined Zurich in 2003 as senior underwriting officer and promoted to vice president Surety Core Contract group in 2006.

o Anne Marie Thurber has been named senior vice president and managing director of Trade Credit and Political Risk. Thurber joined Zurich in 1999 as a senior underwriter and most recently was Emerging Markets Solutions senior vice president and regional manager for the Americas.

o Dick Yeazel, executive vice president of Zurich Surety, assumes additional responsibilities as head of Customer and Distribution Management for Surety, Credit and Political Risk. Previously, he was responsible for the creation and management of the international surety team at Zurich. Yeazel began his career with Zurich as a special agent in the Syracuse, N.Y., branch of the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland.

o Mike Bond, formerly chief operating officer for Emerging Markets Solutions, has been named senior vice president of Strategy and Growth Initiatives. He will focus on strategy and execution of new products and markets. Mike joined Zurich Emerging Markets Solutions in 1998 as a senior underwriter and has been vice president and senior vice president for the group in Continental Europe.

o Bob Zgorski, formerly the chief financial officer of Zurich's North America Small Business unit, has been named senior vice president of Operations for Zurich Surety, Credit & Political Risk. He will be responsible for finance, operations, and e-commerce activities.
