Insurers have filed an appeal against the Michigan Supreme Court to fight a decision that would forbid credit-based insurance scoring in underwriting.
The ruling, made by a state appellate court, reverses a 2005 ruling that permitted companies to continue using credit scores in setting premiums. The case reached the appellate court when the state Office of Financial and Insurance Services appealed the circuit court decision.
