The president of the captive insurer developed by the American Association of Retired Persons is scheduled to discuss how AARP, a billion-dollar firm, employs his operation to control workers' compensation rates, improve claims administration and control cash flow.
Albert Fierro, president of AARP Andrus Insurance Fund, LLC, will discuss the captive at the Sept. 25 Captive Insurance Companies Association Fall Seminar.
CICA said Mr. Fierro's responsibilities include supervising the national insurance portfolio and risk management for 50 state offices and the U.S. Territories.
The group said Mr. Fierro is recognized internationally as a leader in captive insurance management, having worked with The Metro Pool in Sydney, Australia.
With more than 39 million members, AARP is the leading nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization for people age 50 and over in the U.S. The association launched the captive–domiciled in Washington D.C.–July 2007.
The one-day seminar, which includes six sessions, breakfast and lunch, is scheduled for 7:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Renaissance M Street Hotel in Washington, D.C. Information and registration are available online at www.cicaworld.com.
