A police officer in Mississippi is poised to experience whatlife is like on the other side of the law.

Ben Jones III was arraigned on the morning of July 31, 2008 forone count of felony false pretenses and one count of insurancefraud. According to the indictment, Jones reported to AllstateInsurance Company that he had suffered a loss of personal propertyfollowing a fire at a residence he rented in Marks,Mississippi.

"An investigation by our Insurance Integrity Enforcement Bureaudetermined that a fire did occur at that residence on April 23,2008, but that Jones did not rent or otherwise reside or keeppersonal belongings at that address," said Attorney General JimHood. Jones was released on a $5,000 written bond. If convicted forfelony false pretenses, Jones could face up to ten years in prisonand a fine of up to $10,000. If convicted of insurance fraud, Jonescould face up to three years of imprisonment and/or a fine of$5,000 or double the value of the fraud, whichever is greater.
