Aon Corp. announced that Lester B. Knight will succeed Patrick G. Ryan as nonexecutive chairman on August 1.
Knight, who has been an independent director at Aon since 1999, is a founding and managing partner of RoundTable Health Partners. Prior to that, he was vice chairman of Cardinal Health Inc. and former chairman and chief executive officer of Allegiance Corp.
Ryan is retiring from Aon, which he founded more than 40 years ago. Ryan will focus on helping Chicago win its bid to host the 2016 Olympic Summer Games in his role as chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016. He will also serve as chairman of the board of trustees of Northwestern University.
