Terrence W. Cavanaugh

Erie Indemnity Co., managing company for the Erie Insurance Group, appointed Terrence W. Cavanaugh president and chief executive officer. He will also be elected to the company’s board of directors.

Previously, Cavanaugh was senior vice president and chief operation officer of Chubb Corp.’s surety business. Cavanaugh had a 33-year career with Chubb in a variety of different positions. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.

John J. Brinling, Jr., Erie’s interim president and CEO since August 2007, will remain for a period to support Cavanaugh’s transition.
