The House has passed the Community Building Code Administration Grant Act, a national program that provides awards to local governments for building code administration and enforcement. It also allows local and state authority to maintain and enforce their building codes.
This five-year program will authorize $100 million to go to local governments over that period. It restricts awards at $1 million per recipient and recipient communities must match a portion of funds received. Governments in financial distress will have first priority.
