Sharon P. Clark has been appointed commissioner of the Kentucky's Department of Insurance. She will take office on July 16.

Clark is a 17-year veteran of Kentucky state government. Since last December, she held a position in the Finance and Administration Cabinet. Previously, she spent five years as director of the department's Consumer Protection and Education division and three years in positions for the Kentucky House of Representatives.

Clark's career also included assignments at the Public Service Commission and the former Work Force Development Cabinet.
