W. R. Berkley Corp. named William E. Haines president and chief executive officer of Florida-based Carolina Casualty Insurance Co. He succeeds William F. Murray, who will now lead Regional Excess Underwriters LLC as president.
Haines has more than 30 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. For the past six years, he has served as a regional vice president of Admiral Insurance Co., another W. R. Berkley Corporation member company. Haines has a Bachelor of Science in finance from Penn State University.
Murray, with more than 22 years of insurance industry experience, joined W. R. Berkley Corporation in 2003 and has served as president and chief executive officer of Carolina Casualty since 2005. Previously, he was president of the excess division of Admiral Insurance Company.
