The American College appointed John B. Sawyer, ChFC, chief financial officer.

Sawyer's responsibilities will include managing the divisional staff, organization and operational systems and annual budget; developing and maintaining effective reporting and financial relationships with appropriate external organizations, government agencies, and other entities as required; representing The College as required at academic, board, and professional functions; and developing procedural controls that sustain the operational integrity of information processing as well as managing cash flow and investments

Sawyer has over 20 years of financial experience. He was the CFO at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia and the corporate controller for the National Disease Research Interchange. Sawyer received his Bachelor of Science in business administration from Widener University in Chester, Pa. He has also earned his ChFC and MSFS degree from The American College. He has CMA) and CFM designations from the Institute of Management Accountants in Montvale, N.J. Sawyer is a member of the board of directors of the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Chester, Pa., where he is a member of the finance committee and a former chair of the personnel committee.
