Tom Sharkey, Jr., former president of Bank of America’s insurance arm, has returned to Meeker Sharkey Associates as president. The Sharkey family relaunched the Meeker Sharkey firm in 2007.
Sharkey graduated from Villanova University and received his MBA from New York University. In 1980, he began working for Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. He later joined his father’s company, Meeker Sharkey, as a property and casualty and employee benefits specialist. He became president and CEO of Meeker Sharkey in 1998.

The company was sold to Summit Bancorp. in 2000, and Sharkey stayed as president and CEO of Summit’s Insurance Brokerage Division. He remained in that position as Summit Bank was sold to FleetBoston in 2001 and subsequently acquired by Bank of America in 2004. He left Bank of America in 2006 to relaunch Meeker Sharkey Associates as an independent brokerage firm.
