The Public Entity Risk Institute (PERI) announced that 29 public risk managers will be given grants to help them attend the 2008 Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) Conference and Expo.

PERI, a nonprofit research institute focused on risk management training and education, also announced the 2008 winners of the PERI Small Entity Scholarship Award.

Each winner will receive a scholarship valued at $1,000 in financial assistance to attend the PRIMA Conference, June 1-4 in Anaheim, Calif.

“PERI has been offering scholarships for eleven years to help small public entities and community nonprofit organizations take part in the educational sessions offered during the PRIMA Conference,” explained Gerard Hoetmer, executive director of the Fairfax, Va.-based PERI.

“The opportunities afforded during PRIMA to learn about new risk management practices and to meet colleagues from across the nation are invaluable,” he said.

Recipients of the 11th Annual Small Entity Scholarship Program include cities, counties, school districts and a community nonprofit organization.

Entities awarded PERI scholarships to attend the conference are: Bannock County, Idaho; Bourbon County School District, Ky.; Boyle County School System, Ky.; Carroll County Commissioners, Ohio; City of Brookings, S.D.; City of Cannon Beach, Ore.; City of Covina, Calif.; City of Evans, Colo.; City of Fortuna, Calif.; City of Fremont, Neb.; City of Greenville, Texas; City of Kingsport, Tenn.; City of Lapeer, Mich.; City of Lockhart Fire Rescue, Texas; City of Page, Ariz.; City of Post Falls, Idaho; City of Sherwood, Ore.; City of Terre Haute, Ind.; City of Trinidad, Colo.; City of Willcox, Ariz.; County of Lincoln, Ore.; Fountain Hills Unified School District, Ariz.; Glassboro Public School District, N.J.; Hood River County, Ore.; Housing America Corporation, Ariz.; Logan County, Ill.; Lewis County Gov., WashingtonMontgomery County Schools, Ky.; and Sni Valley Fire Protection District, Miss.
